Black, White and Shades of Greyy
by E. M. Frear
This is an epic fantasy in a world named Elisandria where the two main species are Elves and human. Separated from her parents at the youngish elfin age of a hundred due to a series of unfortunate events, Greyylene climbs in the pirating world of men until she is a Captain.
Along the way tragedy befalls her as she witnesses her parents slain before her eyes, launches herself into the world of dark elfin magic, she encounters extremely large cat people while possibly under the influence of really strong potions and makes herself into a damn nuisance for the Imperial Navy.
She does manage to brush up with romance along the way but I wonder if or when she will reveal how much of a cougar she is to the human apple of her eye. As the first in a series this book does leave the reader wanting more and from what I can tell of the ending book two will not be a carbon copy with sequel stamped on it. I enjoyed this book and I recommend it to readers teenaged and more aged.
