Desert Rose
by Laura Taylor
The story of two people imprisoned during conflict in an unnamed middle eastern country. Not only do they escape the prison in which they’ve been starved, interrogated and tortured but they also escape the prisons they built for themselves. Both Emma and David had suffered through failed relationships before their imprisonment but drawing on their combined strength they seize the opportunity when it comes to escape with and into each other. The editing is top-notch and the descriptive writing did its job in painting imagery into the mind of this reader.
