Star Hounds: The Infinite Battle, Galactic Warriors and The Macrocosmic Conflict
by David Bischoff
This trilogy is right dead in the center of one of my favorite genres, with sub-genre. It’s sort of a military space opera with techno-thriller, romance, alien interaction and comedy rolled together. Laura is a hotshot blip-ship pilot who through techno-augmentation can do things no natural human is capable of doing, yet she has some impulse control issues which seem to land her in trouble a lot. There is a borderline alcoholic pirate captain who is trying to drown hidden demons yet pursue a quest he barely understands for the betterment of the Galaxy.
There is of course an oppressive big brother type government which attempts to capture, torture, do lots of shady things and behave like corporations. The writing style and format are such that it is not a door stopper and I found it enjoyable to read. I totally recommend this trilogy because I like it and it rocks.
