The Alien Mind
by Virginia Lori Jennings
As a young adult science fiction work this book is an excellent starter for readers beginning to exercise new skills. The plot follows the journey of a child who was raised by aliens and reintroduced to earth as a way of safeguarding her from attack. Young readers will enjoy Rivi sticking it to bullies, using her mind to shape her world and facing her fears to do what is right.
I enjoyed reading The Alien Mind and I would recommend it as a great choice for young people beginning to read on their own.
Fly Birdie
by Jo Robinson
A woman in an abusive relationship that is causing her to have mental health problems finds healing in caring for another life. This is a great short fiction work and infuses the reader with sympathy and pride for how the protagonist grows.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and I look forward to Mrs. Robinson’s forthcoming novel, Shadow People.
The Visitation
by Jo Robinson
Tony is a brilliant biochemist who worked for years on the viral projects governments deny exist while within his mind he was suffering from extreme mental illness. In a twist of dark humor he finds his humanity in the end and just too late.
This is an awesome dark comedy science fiction work and I definitely recommend it. It reminds me of the best qualities I enjoyed from the Twilight Zone television series.
There is a wealth of Indie and Self-publish work out there that is of a much better quality than the big 5 and many small press would have you believe. Have the courage to find it.
